Diverse People
South Africa’s motto is “Diverse people unite.” This place is known for its diversity. It is recognized for its ethnically diverse communities. South Africa has the largest Caucasian, Indian, and racially mixed communities. There is no single culture in South Africa. They are very diverse. This place it is okay to be different and you aren’t judged for being in whatever they want. I am glad I chose this country. I think that people should be able to believe in whatever they want. And studying this country lets me know that there are places where you can be an individual and be free.

“!ke e: lxarra llke” Unity In Diversity
The country that I have chosen to do is South Africa. I hope to connect with people from there and learn anything there is to know about their environment.
South Africa is famous for its diversity. It has eleven official languages. English is one of the five most commonly used languages. South Africa has the largest Caucasian, Indian, and racially mixed communities in Africa. In 2008, the estimated population was 47.9 million.
Communicating with my penpal, I would like to learn how they are dealing with the HIV/ Aids problem. Researching, I have found that nearly 5 million people are affected with these diseases. I am just curious at how they deal with this conflict, if they try to solve it or not. I would also like to learn more about the “AIDS orphans,” and what it means to be one.
Africa is one place that I have always wanted to visit. Growing up, the Lion King was my favorite movie. The setting is in South Africa, which makes me even more interested in this area. I would like to know what if they have ever seen a lion up close or even observed the animals that live there.
I am just very curious in learning more about South Africa and what people do for fun and just what its like on a daily basis for them.

The 21st Century Learning Initiative
After reading Traci's blog, http://www.21learn.org/publications/abbott_winonadailynews. she got me thinking about the questions we were to ask ourselves. I feel like people aren't really concerned with education in my community. We have some teachers and people who are really into us getting a new education. But for the most part no one really cares about the education here.
When teachers are really into us learning and they are trying to help us in any way possible, it does help me want to futher my education. When teachers don't really care what we do, it makes me not want to do anything and makes me just careless if I'm learning or not. So yes I do think that when teachers are enthused about us learning, it helps the students learn more.
They are trying to get kids to develop basic skills at a very high level of competence so they get not have so many teachers, but have less teachers learning at a higher level. The goal is use technology to take the processes students have learned to apply them to fresh new circumstances.
I think that everyone needs to know how to use a computer. WIth most jobs, you need to learn how to work a computer so you can do research. It takes little time to research on a computer than looking in a text book.

All About Caitlyn
Hey!
I'm a senior. I am a cheerleader and have been for 3 years. I also dance on a competition team. I've been taking gymnastics since I was 4. I enjoy life.
I am a 21st century learner. I mostly learn from Facebook and the computer/television. I enjoy being a 21st century learner because it is a lot about technology and that is cool to me.
I'm a simple person and it doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I'm an outgoing and lovable person. So that's about all there is to me. If you have any questions...just ask! :)
